Matrescence: The transition to Motherhood is more than a film.
It sits at the centre of a Global Movement to ensure the education and understanding of Matrescence is a well-known and seriously considered insight into the transition into motherhood, and creates a society that better values and supports mothers and families leading to improved maternal mental health, stronger families, and a more equitable and connected world.
As film-makers and advocates for mothers and women, our vision is enormous.
We know that this film, and the growing education and research into Matrescence, has the capacity to:
-
Highlight the challenges faced by mothers in our current culture
-
Reduce stigma associated with maternal mental health issues
-
Increase empathy and compassion for mothers at all levels
-
Build community support and ‘the village’ that mothers and families really need
-
Ensure Matrescence education is a key component of prenatal care in the health system
-
And create real policy changes that support mothers and families.
If you’d like to be a part of this Matrescence Movement, there are a number of ways you can join our global community and support this film.
-
Financial Support
Largely funded by Claire Tonti’s Production Company - Sheela Na-Gi - at this stage, our film is seeking funding and financial support from aligned individuals, organisations and NGOs. All donations go directly to the production costs of the film (and we’ll share our gratitude on our social media channels!), with donations of $5000 or more receiving special mention in the credits of the film.
-
Screening Support
We are planning an ambitious impact campaign around the key issues in this film, including screenings at Film Festivals globally and community-driven events in cities around the world. If you would like to hear about screening opportunities, or host your own in your community, please join our Supporter mailing list here, and we will be in touch.
